What We Collect

  • Email address — for authentication and account identification
  • Study data — flashcards, review history, and learning progress you create
  • API keys — optional, encrypted OpenAI keys you provide for AI features

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the Mnemo learning experience. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data. Study data is used to power spaced repetition scheduling and analytics visible only to you.

Chrome Extension

The Mnemo Chrome Extension requests the following permissions:

  • activeTab — to read selected text on the current page for vocabulary lookup
  • storage — to store your authentication token and preferences locally
  • alarms — to periodically refresh your authentication session

Data Storage

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Fly.io (Singapore region). Audio recordings for speaking practice are stored in Cloudflare R2. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

  • Vercel — frontend hosting and basic analytics (page views, no personal data)
  • Free Dictionary API — word definitions and pronunciation (no user data sent)
  • MyMemory Translation — text translation (only the text you highlight is sent)
  • OpenAI — AI features like card suggestions and insights (only when you provide your own API key)

Your Rights

You can export all your data at any time from the Settings page. You can delete your account by contacting us. Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our servers.
